FROM THE EAST I wish all of you a Happy and prosperous New Year. Let’s all work together to make this a magnificent year for White Mountain Lodge #3 and Masonry. I thank all of you that were able to attend our installation of officers on Saturday December 13th. It was a special day for me to be installed as Master of my home Lodge. I was raised in this Lodge 38˝ years ago, and remember how important it was to me then and now how exciting it is to preside in the East. My goal this year will be to increase membership through diligent search for more good men, in search of light by which they may become “better men”. I challenge each of you to spread the message of Masonry to all that will hear, to tell them of the good we do, to “walk our talk” by doing good deeds for the community we live in. I challenge each of you to be true to the principles of your obligations; to answer all summonses sent you from within the lodge cheerfully and wholeheartedly. I also want to thank Most Worshipful Past Grand Master William Jeffers Jr. for doing an outstanding job as the Installing Officer, Most Worshipful Past Grand Master Oscar T. Lyon Jr. doing an excellent job as the Installing Marshal, and Most Worshipful Past Grand Master Charles J. Shoup Jr. for doing a great job as the Installing Chaplain. Three exemplary Masons that I will always look up to for advice and guidance. Finally, I feel very confident that we will have a great year at White Mountain Lodge #3. I congratulate the elected and appointed officers and look forward to all of us working together to achieve our goals. Call a brother and invite them to attend lodge at our next stated meeting January 10th. Call a brother that is not able to attend lodge and let him know we care. Don’t forget coffee and donuts from 9AM till 10AM prior to our lodge meeting. Please let me know what we can do to help our lodge. pauldoresr@cox.net or 602-920-0456 or call Joe Henry 928-425-6686 |

WHEN IS A MAN A MASON? - Joseph Fort Newton. The Builders When is a man a Mason? When he can look out over the rivers, the hills, and the far horizon with a profound sense of his own littleness in the vast scheme of things, and yet have faith, hope, and courage. When he knows that down in his heart every man is as noble, as vile, as divine, as diabolic, and as lonely as himself, and seeks to know, to forgive, and to love his fellow man. When he knows how to sympathize with men in their sorrows, yea, even in their sins - knowing that each man fights a hard fight against many odds. When he has learned how to make friends and to keep them, and above all how to keep friends with himself. When he loves flowers, can hunt the birds without a gun, and feels the thrill of an old forgotten joy when he hears the laugh of a little child. When he can be happy and high-minded amid the meaner drudgeries of life. When star-crowned trees, and the glint of sunlight on flowing waters, subdue him like the thought of one much loved and long dead. When no voice of distress reaches his ears in vain, and no hand seeks his aid without response. When he finds good in every faith that helps any man to lay hold of higher things, and to see majestic meanings in life, whatever the name of that faith may be. When he can look into a wayside puddle and see something besides mud, and into the face of the most forlorn mortal and see something beyond sin. When he knows how to pray, how to love, how to hope. When he has kept faith with himself, with his fellow man, with his God; in his hand a sword for evil, in his heart a bit of a song - glad to live, but not afraid to die ! In such a man, whether he be rich or poor, scholarly or unlearned, famous or obscure, Masonry has wrought her sweet ministry! |
