Master's Corner

The days are growing longer and warmer as spring approaches.  We will see the trees and plants begin to blossom in the New Year.  All of nature rejoices at the appearance of the morning’s new beams and such is the case for our fraternity.  As we Masons become more active in our fraternity, we grow more.  We never should consider ours to be a closed society, but rather one that is open to all good men and true who might apply.

The livelihood and future of our fraternity, to a very great extent, depends on the induction of new members into our order.  Remember what motivated each of you to become a Mason, the wonder of the fraternity, the opportunity to become associated with some of the greatest men who have ever lived.  You sought the recommendation of a good friend to become a Mason.  You met more Masons, and the door was eventually opened to you.  And now that you are a Mason, I know that you grow each day in Masonry, learning more as you go along.  We need to open our doors to seek out more good men to join our ranks, that our good work and prposes might be furthered even more. 

It is up to you and to me to seek these people out, to extend our friendship and to offer them this great opportunity.  Seek out our Brother Secretary and ask him for a new petition, then find this good man and help him fill out the petition to become one of us today.

On Friday, February 13^th, Brother Bill Greenen and I presented a $25. Wal-Mart gift certificate to three students from East Globe School for perfect attendance. Since there were numerous students with perfect attendance, a drawing was held in the Principal’s office on February 13^th. Mitchell Jensen, Kimberly Bates and Tyler Zupancic were awarded the certificates.

At our February stated meeting we were honored their presence and acknowledged the following Masonic Birthdays (Anniversaries): Robert Gillette 47 years, Harold Benjamin 43 years, Howard Billingsley 38 years and Hank Johnson 15 years.  That’s 143 years of Masonry. 

Following our February stated meeting, we held a Ladies and Widows appreciation luncheon. It was a great gathering of fellowship and the honorees had a great time. Drawings were held for various door prizes, which were enjoyed by those, present.

On March 13^th, we will have another great gathering of brothers, their wives, and widows at our luncheon to be held at the Masonic Lodge at 12 noon.  We will be honoring the Police officer of the year from Globe, Police officer of the year from Miami, and Deputy of the year from southern Gila County.  The luncheon will follow in our dining room on the third floor. This will be an excellent time to invite potential candidates to this luncheon.  I will also ask the Silver Belt to have someone there to give us recognition in the press. Mark you calendars and make an effort to attend.  You will enjoy this get together of many outstanding people of our community. Please contact secretary Joe Henry if you plan to attend our luncheon.  We need a count so we can have enough food for all present.

A communication was received informing us that our brother Otto J Tuschea had passed away in Fresno, California.

The following dimits were issued: P.H. Adair to Thunderbird Lodge, UD, and James D Johnson to Hiram Lodge #12 Richfield, Utah.

The first degree was conferred on Merle F Harper.  Presiding in the East was JW Oscar T Lyon Jr.

The Fellowcraft degree was conferred on Brother Harold D Ward and Merle F Harper.

A communication was read from the office of the Grand Secretary, reminding all lodges that they were eligible to draw on the Grand Lodge for one half or up to $25.00 for expenses incurred din the observance of Public School Week.

The brothers voted down a motion for a bid for the property located on Sullivan & Keystone. The trustees announced that another building was being considered which might be more favorable as a Lodge Hall.
