FROM THE EAST

As though no one noticed, summer is upon us!   This will be a busy month for us as we start off with the Grand Communication.  This meeting will be held in Tucson and I encourage as many of you to attend as possible.  Especially those of you have never attended this event. I think you will be impressed with the whole affair. It marks the one great time of the year when all of the Blue Lodges in this jurisdiction come together to consider proposed legislation which will affect all of us and to elect the Grand Line of officers who will lead us in the ensuing year.  We are all brothers and all have a say in our fraternity. Remember when you were once given a new apron and told, “even the purple of the fraternity may one day rest upon your shoulders.”

We continue to look for deserving men in our communities to become one of us.  Please search your mind and think of at least one man that would be an asset to our lodge.

Does any one of you know a worthy person in one of the law enforcement agencies, fire department, law firms, businesses or public school system that we should consider?  If you know of a person, and don’t feel comfortable contacting him, let me know and I will approach him on the benefits of our fraternity.

On May 8th, we delivered approximately 100 new books to Lee Bejarano School in Miami and 100 new books to Copper Rim Elementary School in Globe.  Carol O’Conner, principal of Lee Bejarano School joined us for lunch following our stated meeting and expressed her pleasure upon receiving the books.  Trent Lyon, principal of Copper Rim School was not able to attend the luncheon but the books were delivered to him at the school.

On May 18th, Brother Joe Henry and I attended the honor assembly for East Globe elementary school and two bicycles for books were presented. Brother Bill Greenen had a last minute conflict and was not able to attend. The bicycles were presented to Raquel Gilliam and Mitchell Jensen. These students were very pleased and the audience gave them a wonderful applause.  Brethren, this is masonry.  Doing things to encourage our youth in our community to better themselves.    A few parents and a school librarian came up to me after the meeting appreciative of the programs that they were aware of that we are doing in our community.

At our July stated meeting on July 10th I plan to honor all past masters of White Mountain and Doric Lodge.  If you are a past master, please try to attend this meeting.  If you need transportation, one of our brothers will provide it for you.

Paul J Dore Sr.
