FROM THE EAST

The annual communication has come and gone.  Most Worshipful Brother W. Tom Brooker was elevated to the office of Grand Master.  WB James W Sebastian was elected Deputy Grand Master.  WB Rex R Hutchins was elected Senior Grand Warden and WB David H Luebke was elected Junior Grand Warden.  WB Donald Wilson a member of Oriental Lodge #30 was appointed Junior Grand Steward. Bob Hicks is still our District Deputy Grand Lecturer. Our District Deputy Grand Master is WB Donald E. Benjamin a member of Payson # 70.  WB Howard Billingsley was appointed District Deputy Grand Lecturer of District 1 (Payson).  I also want to humbly mention that I was appointed as Grand Standard Bearer.

The Mason of the year was James Donovan (Tucson Lodge #4) and the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient was Frederick Bolte (Red Rock #63).

The officers that represented our lodge at the Grand Sessions were, WM Paul J Dore Sr., and SW Doug Skowron.  Also in attendance from our lodge were: Worshipful Brother Howard Billingsley, Worshipful Brother Bill Greenen and Most Worshipful Brother Bob Conrad.

The following Resolutions were approved: 2004-01 (Changed the Grand Lodge fiscal year from June 1st through May 31st to July 1st through June 30th.) 2004-03 (Moved the start time of annual convention from 10 AM to 9 AM.).

The following Recommendations were approved: 2004 –2 (permission to form a Tall Cedars of Lebanon Lodge in Arizona).  2004 – 4(approved the merger of Coronado #8 with Safford #16).  2004-5 (approved the merger of Verde Lodge #14 with Sedona Lodge #63).  2004 –7 (approved Spanish Language translation of the Grand Lodge ritual). Recommendation 2004 –3 (The merger of Phoenicia #58 and Scottsdale #43 was rejected).

White Mountain Lodge #3 received third place in the Trestle board contest of small lodges.  Thanks to WB Bill Greenen.

Grand Master Tom Brooker issued his first edict, which changed the title Lodge Program Coordinator (LPC) to District Deputy Grand Master (DDGM).

We were honored to have WB Michael T Bishop Grand Junior Deacon, and WB Bob Hicks District Deputy Grand Lecturer visit our lodge at our June stated meeting. This was WB Bishop’s official visit.

I am looking forward to our July stated meeting.  We will honor our Past Masters and have a special luncheon in their honor.  Our lodge is at a turning point and we need the expertise from our past masters.  What additional things can we do to improve our visibility in our community?  How can we make our lodge more important to our members? What changes do we need to make to interest our brothers to return to our lodge meetings?

I would appreciate having at least all of our past masters that live in the area to try their best to attend this meeting in July.  We hope to have many of our brothers that have not been to lodge in a while to attend and talk with old friends and meet some new brothers. If you need transportation, we will provide it. If you can only attend the luncheon at the lodge hall after the meeting, please try to attend. Remember, your spouse or friend is welcome to the luncheon.  Let Joe Henry know so we can have enough food for the luncheon. Arizona Lodge No.2 has requested that we do a courtesy second degree after our luncheon following our July stated meeting on July 10th. We will fill all stations with members of White Mountain Lodge No. 3 with brothers that are interested in participating in the work.  Please let brother Joe Henry know which part in the second degree you would like to do.

White Mountain Masonic Lodge #3, Elks Lodge, Knights of Columbus, VFW and American Legion have purchased 834 flags in commemoration of the American lives lost in the Iranian war to display from June 30th through July 4th. The flags will be along Highway 60 by-pass in Globe.  WM Paul Dore'

From the South

On June 24th, I had surgery. My neck was cut open and an artery was cleaned out ("roto rooter") but I'm doing fine. I heard that we are going to have two second degrees in July from Phoenix #2 and a couple of Fellowcrafts in August from Scottsdale #43. I'm leaving in August for Connecticut and will be there for my son will be  marrying a very sweet lady.  I will not be at lodge on September 11 because I will be on my way home at that time.

God Bless one and all,

Doug Skowron

Junior Warden
