FROM THE EAST

  Summer is almost behind us and we are looking forward to cooler temperatures. We should start feeling fall in the evenings.

I have just returned from the York Rite Grand Sessions that was held in Tucson. We had a great time visiting with many Masonic brethren that we have not seen for a while.

The world is hurting for what the Masonic Organizations have to offer. It is our responsibility to share it with anyone who will listen. If all men knew these things about us, it would seem to me, they might be breaking down the doors to become one of us. Why does this not happen? Because many of us have become so blasé and take so for granted what we posses, that we do not share it outside of our own little clique of acquaintances. It is my considered opinion that we simply need to live it and share it.

All of us should be thinking of some worthy men in our community to approach regarding masonry. Is there someone in our schools, (principal, teacher or advisor), a Pharmacist, Fireman, Law enforcement officer, Lawyer, Businessman, Doctor, etc. I am sure we all have frequent visits with one of these men. The next time you see one of them let’s mention that you are a mason and if they are interested you would be glad to talk to them about masonry. Our thanks to Brother Dave Johnson for submitting a petition for the degrees. Who will be the next brother to submit one?

How many masons that live in our community that are masons that belong to a lodge elsewhere and would be happy to attend our lodge if you just asked them?

Brethren, please help us to keep White Mountain Lodge #3 active and in existence for many years to come. I was raised in this lodge 39 years ago and will continue to do my share to help. What about you?

Friendship, By: Ruth M. Gilmour

-------------------------------------------

Cultivate a friendship,
As you do a garden bed;
Nourish, feed and watch it grow,
With help and nice things said.

Smile, it's like the sunshine
Needed for the flowers,
Loving hands to tend and care,
Soft rains and sun-filled hours.

Little hurts are like the weeds,
That come between the rows;
Pull and cast them out before
The beautiful friendship goes.

Be proud of your well-tended garden,
And proud of a good friend too,
All the work you put into them
Will come straight back to you.

Don't neglect your garden,
Or the good friends that you know,
Don't let a single day go by,
Keep trying, both will grow.
