Masonic Charities of Arizona
October 11, 2008
Gila County SOS is one of 10 Arizona agencies to be awarded $1500. grants this year by Masonic Charities of Arizona. The Globe-based organization provides numerous items to United States military personnel who are in Iraq, Afghanistan and other overseas areas. Ellen O’Mailia, the non-profit group’s president, said the Masonic Charities grant will “further our exempt purposes by providing funds with which we can continue mailing care packages to our troops.” Among items sent are personal hygiene, underwear, food, reading and writing materials. Presenting the grant was Paul J Dore Sr., a director of Masonic Charities and a member of White Mountain Lodge No.3 Masonic Lodge in Globe. “It is obvious,” Dore said, Gila County SOS provides an excellent service to boost the morale of military personnel serving overseas, and we are pleased to make this award.” Nancy Henry, Treasurer of SOS was presented the check at the Masonic Lodge in Globe on October 11, 2008. Masonic Charities of Arizona is an Arizona non-profit corporation organized for the purpose of relieving human suffering by making grants from its endowment fund to Arizona health and welfare agencies. Its office is at 345 W. Monroe St., Phoenix Arizona 85003.
