Something to Think About
To: Arizona Grand Lodge, New Mexico Grand Lodge, York Rite and Scottish Rite Masons, Shrine Masons and guests
This year White Mountain Lodge No.3 will be participating in the annual “Historical Home & Building” tour conducted by the Globe & Miami Chamber of Commerce held on Saturday & Sunday March 8th & 9th. The Lodge has made plans for a great Masonic weekend and invites you to attend a major event on March 9th, 2014 in Globe, Arizona.
Over 133 years ago a group of local Masons petitioned the Grand Lodge of New Mexico to form a Masonic Lodge in Globe. They received their Charter on January 18, 1881 as White Mountain Lodge No. 5, Grand Lodge of AF&AM of New Mexico. In 1882 the brethren of White Mountain Lodge ( joined with the other 4 Lodges existing then in the Arizona Territory to form the Grand Lodge of Arizona) was instrumental in forming the Grand Lodge of Arizona. At that formative meeting for the Grand Lodge of the Arizona Territory which was held in Tucson, White Mountain Lodge No.5 Grand Lodge of New Mexico was chartered on October 16, 1882 as White Mountain Lodge No. 3.
After a number of years of meeting at different locations in town the brethren determined to build their own Lodge temple. Following approval at one of their Stated Meetings they purchased the lot where the Temple is now located on April 20, 1912 at a cost of $13,000 and a projected investment of $9,000 to build the temple. Following completion and dedication of the building, the Lodge held its first stated meeting there on October 7, 1913.
On Sunday March 9, 2014 at 9 AM, Most Worshipful Grand Master William A Garrard, Jr. and the Grand Line officers will open a meeting of the Grand Lodge in the lodge room located at 180 N Broad Street, Globe, Arizona. At 10 AM we will start the public ceremony for the dedication of the Temple on the occasion of its 100th anniversary. We are expecting a large attendance from the Grand Lodge officers, Grand York Rite Officers, Scottish Rite & Shriners. A light lunch will be available after the ceremony in the dining room located on the third (3rd) floor. We would appreciate hearing from you if you plan to attend.
Since White Mountain Lodge No.3 is participating in the “Historical Home & Building” tour. Information is attached to this letter and can also be found on the White Mountain Lodge Web page -- www.whitemountain 3.org . White Mountain Lodge will hold their monthly stated meeting on Saturday at 9 AM prior to the starting of the historical tour.
