Senior Warden's Corner Brethren, Summer time is here and that means Grand Lodge, Flag Day, Independence Day and Labor Day. It's a time when the children are out of school. It's a time of extra safety because of kids. What the kids and grandkids around water and in the streets. It's a time were we contemplate all the blessings we have living in this great country. We just finished honoring our fallen on Memorial Day. We honor our flag on June 14th. I would like to see every Mason flying our flag this summer. I remember when half of our street was flying flags after 9-11 and now there is just two and I'm one of them. It's sad really. We seem to only get patriotic when there is a national disaster. Independence Day on July 4th is always a special day. Then there is Labor Day where we honor all those who have made this country great. We are charged in the first degree to be loyal to our country. We should all take the time to read the charges of all three degrees. As Masons it is important to remember the charges that was given to us. Have we lived up to them? God Bless, Bill Greenen, SW |

Something to Think About
Below
is another essay by our Late Brother Dewey H. Wolstein, PGM of
the
Grand Lodge of Georgia
Degrees and Life
By M.W. Brother Dewey
H. Wolstein
WE CANNOT introduce innovations in Masonry.
How-ever, this does not mean that we cannot put something of
ourselves into Masonry. It is the responsibility and duty of everyone
who has a part in conferring the degrees to not only speak the words
but to deliver their meanings. His own heart must reach the heart of
the candidate. Together with the words there must be a feeling that
the lessons are not related to life, but are life.
Moral lessons
are taught men by good mothers and good fathers. Men are morally
qualified before they are qualified to become Masons. The great
purpose of Masonry then is to make possible a system of moral
development which will widen the path of improvement. When the
lessons of Masonry fail in the objective of creating a living
philosophy, a philosophy that helps to make life a richer, fuller
experience, then the greatest good is lost.
A great poem becomes
even greater when one takes the time and effort to study the state of
mind of the author, and to more clearly understand the thought and
inspiration behind the printed words.
So it is with the lessons of
Masonry. We must take that which is warm, pulsating,
alive, and drive it into the heart of the candidate.
